Answers to General Questions

Q: How did you come up with the name Lifelines
    to Laughlines?

During the toughest times, when Lynn and I talked about how we felt, we used an assortment of metaphors. One we often used is about being caught off guard in a sudden storm. We were wanting someone to throw us a lifeline.

One day we were talking about what happened to us after we had caught our lifelines and found our way to solid ground. We knew we wanted to do more than just make it through the transitions. We wanted to be more fully alive. We wanted to be laughing more. And so Lifelines to Laughlines was born.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Q: What is the philosophy behind Lifelines?
We believe each moment of life is precious. Each moment holds an opportunity for a joy-filled experience. Each experience holds the key to a happier, healthier you. Through our personal experience, we have come to believe that this is especially true while we are navigating transitions.
Our program has been created to light the path for all of us to show up as the most magnificent Being we are.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Q: What do you mean when you say that we all
     have an unconscious blueprint for success in
     business and in life?

We all have a past that impacts how we perceive, interpret and respond to the people, places and events in our lives. These past experiences have contributed to us forming our many beliefs. While we are conscious of some of the beliefs that color our world, most of them are hidden below our conscious awareness. None the less, this subconscious programming is responsible for who and what shows up in our lives, and how we deal with it all.

The good news is that we can choose to change our blueprint. Yes, this does require conscious effort and practice. Yet as we look at the results of what we have created, we have the opportunity to turn our disorientation and dissatisfaction into personal power and motivation.

The journey through our transitions is the perfect time and space to explore our inner landscape and choose what we nurture, what weeds we remove, and new seeds we plant.

Return to Top

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Q: What do you mean by “Spiritual?”
We honor all religions and see them all as paths to becoming more conscious, loving and fully alive. We believe there is only One Source with many names, that we are all connected to this Source and to each other, and that all of us are a unique expression of this Oneness. A spiritual life is one where we become more and more conscious of this connection. When we approach the transition process from this perspective, we have an opportunity to form a deeper connection with our Source, and to practice thinking, feeling and acting in the faith that all is well in our world, even when our perception says otherwise.
Q: Is individual coaching available?
Yes. There are several reasons why you might choose to do private sessions with either of us.
    • You want our full and undivided attention and the program to be totally focused on addressing your needs.
    • You might want to get started immediately rather than wait until the next program begins.
    • Your schedule might not fit with when we offer the program.
Whatever the reason, please email or call us at 321-259-4404 to explore this possibility.
Answers About the Introduction
The first session to the Lifelines Program is the free Introduction. You’ll learn about how major life changes can trigger tough transitions, and experience skills and tools you can immediately put to use. You’ll also meet your guides, Bonnie and Lynn.
Q: Why is there an introductory session?
We want to be the perfect solution for our participants. We know that for you to truly benefit from participating in Lifelines™, you need to feel safe to share your feelings and to receive the support, encouragement and guidance we offer. We believe for that to happen you need to know us, to feel comfortable and connected with us. This introductory session provides this opportunity.
During the free, one-hour session you will hear what our intentions are for you; learn about the components of the program; listen to how this program will assist you through your transition and benefit your life. Then you will be able to decide if we are a fit for you.
Return to Top
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Q: Do I have to take the Introduction before I take the  rest of the program?

Everyone does need to participate in the Introduction before taking the program. The material covered in the Introduction is the foundation for the subsequent six sessions. Session #1 of the fee-based Lifelines Program is not a duplicate of the Introduction.

Return to Top

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Q: Why is it free?
We want you to be sure we are a match for you before you sign up for the fee-based program. Since the program is interactive and experiential, our intention is that we attract only like-minded individuals who will support and encourage each other.
Return to Top
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Q: How can I participate in the Introduction?

You can sign up for the live telephone-based session.

You can also listen to a prerecorded session right now.

Return to Top

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Q: When is the next session?
The Introduction to the Lifelines Program is offered several times a month. You can view the schedule and sign up now.
 Answers About The Program
Lifelines is a program designed to assist you in coping with and getting through transitions triggered by major life changes.
Lifelines takes a unique approach, combining the benefits of being in a support group and an educational program. Bonnie and Lynn introduce concepts selected to increase understanding and acceptance of the inner landscape that accompanies challenging transitions.
Conversations always follow delivery of information so that participants have an opportunity to explore the material further and discover how it is relevant to them. The interactive, experiential program provides you with opportunities to explore beliefs, as well as practice and integrate behaviors and skills that you will find helpful as you move through the transition process.
Participate from the comfort of your home with no travel costs. We use teleconference technology to bring together success-minded people independent of geography and time zones.
Because meeting for one hour a week is not enough time to learn and master new attitudes and life skills, Lifelines is also a home study program. We provide you with resource materials via our website and email so that you can study and practice between classes.
This approach is the highest form of adult education. It is based on models that work with many learning styles and support adult learners best. You are part of a virtual community, able to connect with other participants during and between session, while you study the materials in your own way on your own time.
You benefit for the rest of your life. Participation in the program will also contribute to your greater success in business and in life, and you’ll be better prepared for whatever the future may bring.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Q: What kind of program is this?

It’s a cross between a support group and an educational seminar. We want you to feel relief that you’re not broken or crazy, hopeful for a brighter tomorrow, empowered to thrive through tough transitions, and to have the support, skills and know-how to do so.

Return to Top

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Q: Who is this program designed for?
  • People who are going through a tough transition triggered by major life changes.
  • People who see one coming.
  • People who have made it through a transition and want to find meaning in the experience.
Return to Top
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Q: What transitions are addressed?

The following events are among the many possibilities we believe are likely to trigger tough transitions: loss of a loved one; divorce; loss of your job, career or business; children leaving or coming home; illness or injury, yours or a loved one; parent(s) coming to live with you or requiring your care; financial challenges; choosing to start a business, change careers, or retire. One quality each of these life changes has in common is that they all disrupt our daily routine and thrust us into unknown, unsettling, and frightening territory.

We also address life changes that are considered to be joyful blessings such as marriage, birth, a financial windfall, children graduating and going off on their own. These, too, are major changes that impact our lives. In a way they are more confusing and challenging because we, and others, tend to judge the doubts and fears we experience as inappropriate and wrong. They are none the less real and disruptive.

Return to Top

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Q: What are the stages of transition you take us through?
Some transitions occur by choice and others are thrust upon us whether or not we’re ready. Some are predictable while others take us by surprise. Some are pleasant and welcome, while others are not. Sometimes a change may cause us considerable pain during the transition, then in retrospect we see the experience as a turning point that lead to a positive outcome.
What we have found is that while each transition is different in its specific form, each has some similar characteristics.
There are many models and many metaphors used to describe the transition process, the stages, and how we feel during them. We have chosen to work with two models of transition.
    • Each transition consists of three distinct stages: endings, the void, and new beginnings.
    • Our lives go through cycles much like the cycle of seasons. Like the transition between seasons, the stages in transition aren’t linear or clearly defined. Phases often overlap and sometimes seem to reappear after we ‘thought we had worked through that one,” much like the snow storm in spring, and the warm, summer-like days of Indian summer, after days of cooler fall weather.
    Return to Top
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Q: What are the benefits of participating?

  • You will be a member of a safe, healing community and have opportunities to bond with like-minded people who are committed to support and encourage you through life’s turbulent waters.
  • You will develop new attitudes and beliefs, learn life skills, develop behaviors, and hear more clearly your inner voice that you might:
    • Move through transitions more consciously and gracefully.
    • Know when to hold on to what you are accustomed to ... and when to let go and move into the next phase of your life.
    • Come up with solutions to personal and professional challenges.
    • Tap into the transformative power of life’s major transitions.
  • Participation in the program will contribute to greater success in business and in life.
  • You’ll be better prepared for whatever the future may bring.
  • Return to Top

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Q: What is the content based on?
The program content is eclectic. We weave together materials from all of the following: positive psychology, life skills, spiritual practices, and how to optimize the integration of mind, body and spirit.
We also explore what scientists are learning about how the human brain works, and how we interpret and respond to what happens in and around us. Science has been providing us with tangible evidence that we’re not broken and we’re not crazy. We’re dealing with the way the body and brain are hardwired and programmed. We’ll be learning about how we’re built and what we can and cannot change so that we can make the best of being human.
Return to Top
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Q: What is the format of the program?

The program consists of seven one-hour sessions. The  Introduction is free. There is a fee for participating in the additional six sessions.

We believe that a one-time event provides exposure to information. It takes repetition and practice to learn, master and integrate new beliefs, skills and behaviors.

That’s why our program is experiential and active. You have many opportunities to interact with the guides and other participants during every class: to talk about where you are; what you’re going through; what you’re thinking and feeling; where you’re confused or stuck; and to ask others for their perspective, feedback, and alternative solutions.

In addition, we include several activities in each session. The exercises and practices allow you to apply what you’re learning. Reading about the transition process and the transformative power of major life changes has an effect at the level of thinking. Your patterns of feeling and behaving remain untouched. You need to integrate thought, feeling and behaving before you’ll experience a change in your personal reality.

We encourage you to practice those activities most meaningful to you between sessions.

All of this contributes to Lifelines being more effective and producing longer lasting, more permanent results than reading books or atte nding weekend seminars.

Return to Top

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Q: What is the format of each session?
Each session begins with a welcoming, followed by a moment for the group to become present and centered. We state our intentions for that particular session. Then everyone is invited to share what happened since the last session, especially as it applies to their practices.
After introducing the theme for the session, we weave together a combination of open discussion, experiential activities, and information that supports the topic. At times during the call we recommend activities the participants might want to practice during the coming weeks.
Before we close, we ask if anyone has any final questions or comments. Then we ask people to share the most significant concept or insight from that session.
Return to Top
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Q: Why is the program conducted on the phone?

We’ve noticed that sometimes it’s easier to share intimate things when we’re on the phone.

There are several other reasons we decided to offer Lifelines on the phone.

    • People from anywhere in the world can participate. We all benefit because the participants will bring with them a greater diversity in knowledge, experience and practices.
    • You get to be in the comfort of your home or office.
    • We are able to offer the sessions at a greater selection of times and days, so it is more likely that you’ll find the program offered when it works for you.
    • There’s no travel time or expense. The only expense is the cost of your long distance telephone time.

Programs, sessions and classes that are conducted on telephone conference calls are also called “tele-programs,” “teleconferences,“ and “teleclasses” or similar variations.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Q: Are all programs the same?
People who sign up for a particular offering of the program go through the sessions together. Because each person brings his or her own knowledge and experience, each group is unique. We individualize each program to some extent to meet the needs of those who are in each group.
Return to Top
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Q: Are there live classes?

The free Introduction to the Lifelines Program, the prerequisite to participating in the Lifelines Program, is offered via live teleconferences. You can sign up now for the live session that is most convenient for you.

The calls are recorded, so that if you miss a session, you can listen to it. You can only listen to sessions of the group you’re in.

Return to Top

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Q: Are there in-person events?
At this time the program is only offered via live telephone conference calls. We are planning to do in-person events in the future.
If you wish to invite us to be a presenter at an in-person conference or sponsor an in-person program, we would love to explore the possibilities with you.
Return to Top
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Q: Do you offer resource material to provide additional information and support between sessions?

Yes. You will find many resources on our website, including Bonnie's Blog: Embracing a Tough Transition, information about transitions, a list of resources including books and articles, CDs and DVDs, and more.

In the near future, chat rooms and bulletin boards so you can stay connected with other members of the Lifeline Community™.

We will also be providing written and audio versions of exercises and activities.

Some of these will be in areas reserved for program participants only.

Return to Top

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Q: What if I miss a session?
We understand that you are a busy person and have complex schedules. If for any reason you are unable to attend a session, you will be able to listen to it on our website as we record all calls. All program calls are posted to password protected areas of our website. Only people in your group will have access to your group’s calls.
Q: How do I register for the Lifelines Program?
Click here to see when the program is offered and register.
Please remember that while you can register for the Lifelines Program at any time, we highly recommend that you participate in the Introduction to the Lifelines Program before you actually participate in the program. That's because the material in the additional six sessions are built upon what is covered during the Introduction.
Answers About Life Coaches, Bonnie & Lynn
Q: Who are the guides?
Compassionate professionals serve as your guides. We, Lynn and Bonnie, affectionately known as the Shifter Sisters, have years of experience and impressive credentials.
Each of us has successfully navigated our way through turbulent times initiated by a sequence of major life changes. While we had found comfort and guidance in our friendship, we often spoke of wishing we had additional support and encouragement. We wanted to work with guides who had professional training and had been through turbulent transitions themselves. We wanted to connect with a community of success-minded people to journey together into the uncharted territory of life’s major transitions.
Once on solid ground, we realized we were the perfect pair to co-create the Lifelines Program, and to serve as guides for others who wanted to uncover the deeper meaning, purpose and blessings hidden within their personal experience.
